REBECCA Daniel has continued to demonstrate her fantastic 800 metres form this season by winning the Under 13 800 metres final at the East Anglian Prep Schools’ Championships in Bedford, establishing a new meeting record.

She has now qualified for the Nationals in Birmingham on July 2, where she has a very good chance of adding another gold medal to her tally.

The 12-year old King’s Ely Junior athlete recently smashed the school’s 800 metres record by an incredible 14 seconds, making her the fastest girl in her age group in the UK.

“The standard is very high at the Bedford meeting,” said Head of Athletics at King’s Ely Junior, Richard Powell. “To even compete there shows that pupils have reached an impressive level in their chosen event.

“Rebecca ran a fine race, taking the lead after 150 metres and maintaining a strong pace for the remaining distance, eventually emerging victorious by about 20 metres.”
