Here are some photos from King’s Ely Acremont Nursery and Pre-Prep’s Coronation celebrations on Friday (May 5th)!

Children in Nursery One through to Year Two (and lots of staff!) donned red, white, and blue clothes and accessories for the day. An afternoon tea party and traditional fish and chips lunch (thank you Debbie and Team!), country dancing, wildflower seed planting, painting, singing, a Coronation STEM challenge – you name it, they did it – and we know King Charles III would be proud of our efforts!

Faye Fenton-Stone, Head of Acremont Pre-Prep, said: “From the respectful to the fun, and from the ceremonial to the spontaneous, we all enjoyed a day of celebration and joy, both in the Cathedral and at Acremont. In the true spirit of a flag waving, bunting billowing street party, we danced, played, laughed, ate and, mostly importantly, shared and made memories together.

“To open the day, our Acremont House Captains led the procession through the Cathedral with ‘Zadok the Priest’ triumphantly ringing in our ears. By mid morning, we were all assembled in the garden, both Nursery and Pre-Prep, before escaping the truly British weather, to take part in country dancing, just as if we were at the Ghillies Ball at Balmoral. We made wildflower seed pods to take home to plant, just as King Charles has at Highgrove. We collaged and painted just as King Charles too, enjoys painting. We decorated the tree branches with our works of art, pegged up and fluttering in the breeze as they dried. We also created various grand designs for palaces using the outdoor construction equipment.

“Whilst these activities may not all have taken place in our garden as first planned, the resilience of the children in embracing the indoor adventure of the day shone through! Our afternoon tea began with the Loyal Toast ably delivered by Georgia Clayton, before we danced the ‘Coronation Conga’ around the garden and concluded the day with a rousing performance of the National Anthem.”
