TALENTED footballers Owen Cole (12) and Daniel Murphy (13), who study at King’s Ely Junior, were selected to represent the Eastern region at the Independent Schools Football Association’s (ISFA) festival over the Easter holidays.

Although the event was cancelled due to severe weather conditions, the East Under 13 team went head to head against rivals Hertfordshire and Essex at The Football Akademy [sic] in Stevenage on March 27.

Daniel scored the opening goal, which the opposition later equalised, resulting in a final score of 1-1.

Head of PE at King’s Ely Junior, David Boothroyd, said: “The boys put on an entertaining game in the cold weather, which was played with great spirit.”

The ISFA is affiliated to the Football Association (FA) and provides the most talented players from independent schools in England with an opportunity to play at a standard higher than normal inter-school football, in order to help them develop their skills.
