Another good cause that we are thrilled to have helped this Christmas is Jimmy’s Cambridge – a fantastic community-based charity which provides both support and housing to people who are rough sleeping in and around Cambridge.

Sean Quinn, our Head of Psychology, and his A-Level students collected and donated around 1,000 items to the charity’s ‘Christmas Wish List’ – including toiletries, food and drink items, travel mugs and small gifts.

Christmas Jumper Day celebrations at King’s Ely Senior were also in aid of Jimmy’s, and a total of £530 was raised in donations.

A wonderful Christmas Charity Concert, held in our Hayward Theatre before the end of term, raised at least another £700 for Jimmy’s.

The concert was organised by students, Jess Harding, Lauren Peck and Emily Williams, with the support of Mr Porter-Thaw, Mrs Lane, Mr Landymore and Mr Sedgwick. Groups who performed on the evening included our Jazz Band, Concert Band, Sax Quartet and the Aeolian Trio.

Barry Griffiths, Community Engagement Officer at Jimmy’s, said: “What a truly wonderful donation from King’s Ely. The kindness behind all the donated items, coupled with the cash donation, is a magnificent combination to receive at this time of year for our residents. Our huge thanks goes to all concerned at King’s Ely for everything that they have done.”

Thank you to all students, families, staff members and friends of King’s who donated so generously!
