Choosing GCSE courses is a very important and exciting time in a young person’s education. We encourage our pupils to develop their passions, whilst also ensuring a broad and balanced range of GCSE subjects to provide firm foundations for higher education and the world of work.

We carefully guide our pupils in their choice of subject by providing written information, briefings for pupils and for parents, as well as careers advice and the guidance of subject teachers and tutor. In addition to the core curriculum, most pupils will take choose optional subjects.

Compulsory core curriculum:

  • English
  • English Literature
  • Mathematics
  • Religious Studies
  • Science (known as Combined Science, equivalent to two GCSEs) or option: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  • Pupils will normally select at least one Modern Foreign Language from French, German and Spanish
  • ICT is continued through a programme integrated into curriculum subjects
  • Physical Education
  • Personal Development
