This week, two students from King’s Ely were selected for the East Midlands ‘Lambs’ Independent Prep Schools Rugby side to play West Midlands.

Callum Hall (Under 12) and Ben Wilcox (Under 10) attended trials consisting of over forty boys in age group from the local prep schools including St. Faiths, Norwich, Bedford and Orwell Park. The three trial games were fiercely competitive and both boys did exceptionally well to stand out amongst such a strong group of players.

Both boys captain their sides in King’s Ely Junior; Callum the 1st XV and Ben the Colts A’s, a team that has so far enjoyed an unbeaten season, with both boys proving to be the major contributor to the points tally with their respective sides.

Head of Rugby, Jason Billows, commented, “I hope that King’s Ely Rugby players continue to be recognised and picked for representative sides such as the Lambs. Both Callum and Ben have enormous talent and they have shown huge commitment and effort throughout the year. I wish them well as rugby players and all round sports men.”

King’s Ely has always had an impressive reputation of developing young talent, and this is yet another example of progressing two outstandingly talented individuals.

Head of Junior, Richard Whymark, commented, The boys thoroughly deserve their success and I join children throughout the school in congratulating them on their selection thanks to their determination, talent and commitment.”

Both boys will play against the West Midlands Lambs representative side at the beginning of November.
