A NEW record was set in King’s Ely Boat Club history when nearly 50 students raced in the Norwich Head on Saturday. Never before have so many competed at a single event.

They raced in 20 crews along the 2k and 5k course with the senior competitors rowing twice.

For many of the younger rowers, this was their first competitive event and there was obvious apprehension but every one of them showed great determination.

Among the more experienced, David Bercow and Ben Love showed great spirit to win the IM1 double sculls, overtaking several eights and fours on the way and there was also a fine win for Andrew Cotterill in the J18 sculls.
