Whilst the school provides a hotbed of opportunity for the musically gifted and talented, there is something for absolutely everyone, regardless of musical tastes or ability.

Over 300 Junior pupils receive individual instrumental lessons each week and these are taught by thirty visiting teachers and two full-time staff in this section of the school. There are over seventy individual singing lessons given by six vocal specialists.

For the more musically able pupil there are auditioned ensembles which have a membership from across the school. In recent years, the concert band, jazz band and choir have toured Holland, Belgium, France and Malta.

Every child is given the opportunity to sing. The Ely Cathedral Boy Choristers attend the school and sing regularly at concerts in Ely Cathedral and internationally. The King’s Ely Junior chamber choir for boys and girls, ‘King’s Voices’, joins with the boy choristers to perform for important school events and some tours abroad. There is also a choir for each year group and an elite chamber choir.
