Students in Years 5 and 6 follow on from the innovative curriculum in Year 4, continuing their exciting learning through the use of creative themes. Both year groups are set for English and Mathematics, and throughout their other wider subjects, differentiation is the key to success. Specialist subject teachers deliver Science, MFL, Music, Drama, Art, DT and Games. Opportunities for educational visits are many and extension and enrichment activities are regularly available. Drama productions occur regularly, as do concerts for Choirs, Strings and Wind Band.

Currently a three-form entry, Year 5 benefits from comfortable class sizes for optimum learning, as does Year 6, which currently has four classes. Formal assessments take place twice a year in January and May and both year groups enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork of whole year group residential trips. The added responsibility of moving from their classroom base for many lessons enables Year 5 and 6 to prepare for the independence they so look forward to in Year 7.

Having fun is paramount, both in learning and play. The outside space for both year groups is large and includes a climbing activity area and a large paddock, which can be enjoyed at break times during the day.

Our days are busy and full and we endeavour to make the most of every moment.
