Our Year 7 King’s Ely Prep pupils had only been back in school for one day before they were off on a learning adventure!

What better way to enrich the children’s current History topic on Medieval England than with a trip to Mountfitchet Castle and Norman Village in Stansted, Essex, on April 23rd.

Pupils (and staff!) were in their element travelling back in time to 1066 Norman England and exploring the motte-and-bailey castle and village, which has been lovingly re-constructed on its original ancient site.

Our budding historians wandered around and inside all of the different buildings, they engaged with the various interactive exhibits, they tried on some armour, they suffered medieval punishments such as the stocks, and they made a fuss of the many animals which roam freely around the site, including goats, deer and peafowl.

A fantastic day of learning more about our country’s fascinating past in a hands-on and interactive way!
