Four of our A-Level Textile Design students were finalists in this year’s Dressmaking Competition at The Stitch Festival.

Sixth Form pupils, Hettie Robson, Nell Kittoe, Belle Leung and Keira Mavin, were among only ten finalists in the national competition, which saw their stunning creations being modelled on the catwalk at the London event.

Around 20,000 people attended the four-day festival, which is hailed as being one of the best UK events for contemporary dressmaking, sewing and stitching. The extravaganza was held at the Business Design Centre in Islington from March 21st-24th.

This year, we were offered three separate exhibition stands to showcase our Year 12 Textile Design students’ work. This is an invaluable opportunity for our young designers to display their work to the public before making their UCAS applications and attending interviews.

Nell won the Dressmaking Competition in 2023 and Old Elean, John Oswald-Crichton, won the contest in 2022.

Congratulations to Nell, Hettie, Belle and Keira for reaching the finals and thank you to Mrs Alison Rhodes, our Director of Art at King’s Ely Senior, and her team for continuing to create so many opportunities and experiences for the students!
