It looks like we might have some budding carpenters in our midst at King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep!

Weekly ‘Wonderful Woodwork’ sessions were held for our Reception classes last term as part of Acremont Pre-Prep’s extensive enrichment programme.

Our four and five-year-olds learnt about how important it is to keep themselves and others safe in the workshop, including wearing goggles to protect their eyes. They then got to grips with how the hammers and screwdrivers are used – all supervised of course.

The children were able to get creative with the tools using various materials, including polystyrene, balsa wood and pumpkins. Towards the end of term, our little carpenters had put all of their new-found skills to good use by making some adorable hedgehogs!

Acremont Pre-Prep’s enrichment programme for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils is designed to ignite imaginations and ingrain a lasting love of learning. Activities are creatively and carefully planned to further deepen the children’s knowledge, understanding, and skillset in many different areas of the curriculum.

As well as ‘Wonderful Woodwork’, enrichment sessions last term included art-themed ‘Take One Picture’ workshops, ‘Exploring Engineering: Float, Fly and Reach for the Sky’ sessions, ‘Forest School’, ‘Unity’, and ‘The Street Beneath Our Feet’, which saw the children exploring geology, paleontology and archaeology!
