King’s is renowned for its Hogwarts-esque features, but these were taken to a whole new level on Saturday (March 2nd) evening!

A group of our biggest Harry Potter fans at King’s Ely Prep came together to enjoy a magical banquet in the Monastic Barn and sleepover in the Porta Library.

The event was for pupils in Years 6 and 7, and it was organised by Mrs Rachel Axten-Higgs and Mrs Katie Mankellow as the first chapter of our eagerly-awaited Book Week celebrations.

The efforts that our Catering Team and Library Team went to for the children were extraordinary, with the Monastic Barn transformed into Hogwarts’ Great Hall for the occasion.

A scrumptious feast was served, complete with roast dinner, chocolate frogs, edible Golden Snitches, and a replica of Hagrid’s DIY birthday cake.

Everyone then piled into the Porta Library for a Harry Potter sleepover, complete with films, snacks and games.

Not only was the extravaganza a wonderful way to launch Book Week, but proceeds after costs also raised more than £800 for King’s Ely Prep’s charity of the year.

It is Book Week at both Acremont Pre-Prep and Prep all this week, with author workshops, a fantasy fiction bake-off competition, after school quidditch, fantasy fiction scavenger hunts, and so much more. Look out for lots more book, literacy and reading fun on our website and socials over the coming days!
