KING’S Ely rowing ace Toby Rudkin has won both Under 16 single and double scull events at the International Regatta in Belgium, beating over 150 rivals.

As well as defeating the Belgian national champion to take home Gold in the single scull, Year 11 student Toby also came first in the Under 16s doubles with partner Max Marsden, from Stowe School in Buckingham.

Toby also finished third in the highly competitive Under 18s singles regatta, competing against national squads from countries such as Germany, the Netherlands and South Africa to name a few.

King’s Ely Rowing Coach Liam Smith said: “Toby’s wins in Belgium last weekend are the latest in a series of high profile successes at both national and international levels, which will set him up well for the summer events including the national schools regatta and the British National Championships.

“He is also being considered for the junior rowing team for Great Britain, which will be announced in the summer.”
