King’s Ely Senior’s French Department held a Christmas Baking Competition for the first time this year.

Students in Year 9 were invited to bake a traditional seasonal bûche, which French families across the globe will have tucked into this December.

Members of our MFL Department and Scott Mathie, who is Head of Year 9, were entrusted with the difficult task of judging the entries in two categories: ‘Best looking cake’ and ‘Best tasting cake’.

Brigitte Bousquet, Head of French at King’s Ely Senior, said: “All entries were excellent, but the ones which stood out were Leo’s coffee bûche decorated with homemade meringues, which looked so professional, and Gabriel’s chocolate bûche, which tasted heavenly. They both received a lovely hamper of French goodies to enjoy with their families. Thank you to all students for their efforts and engagement!”
