AWARD-WINNING product designer Duncan Fitzsimons visited King’s Ely Senior’s Design and Technology students this week to talk about his experiences of setting up a globally successful design company.

The co-founder of Vitamins Design, which has designed innovative new products for companies such as Samsung, Nokia and the

BBC, made international headlines when his folding wheel invention won the Transport Design of Year Award in 2013.

Inspired by Duncan’s talk, Year 11 student Fred Scott commented: “As well as an in-depth explanation of how he started the London-based company over several years after university, Duncan talked about the methods of designing and the processes involved in bringing a product to the market. He also mentioned the importance of working as an effective team and thinking outside of the box, engaging us in exercises to show us that less obvious solutions can often be more effective.”
