YOUNG flautists Victoria Davis and Theodora Taylor have made it through to the final round of the Cambridge Music Festival after winning their classes in the woodwind section.

Victoria, who is Year 6 at King’s Ely Junior, won the Under 11 woodwind section and Theodora, from Year 7, won the Under 12 section; Victoria was a close second at just one mark behind her. Victoria went on to win the Under 15 section too, and also came top of her class at the Oundle

Music Festival.

As both girls won their classes with a mark of over 88, they will now compete in the finalist concert on May 1 for the Jean Collins Salver.

Head of King’s Ely Junior, Richard Whymark, said: “We are delighted that Victoria and Theodora have seen all of their hard work and rehearsing rewarded. They are part of a super group of students who have been inspired to learn the flute through the work of tutor Liz Hargest.”
