YEAR 9 King’s Ely student Anna Willis has been awarded a Distinction at Grade 7 Violin.

Fourteen-year old Anna is a member of the Ely Cathedral Girls Choir and recently won a place at Pro Corda, a national Chamber Ensemble Training programme that specialises in quartets, piano trios and musicianship. She started playing the violin at the age of 7 and is also a talented pianist.

Anna’s teacher, Helen Medlock said: “Achieving a Distinction at such a high grade is an excellent achievement, especially when the violin is regarded as one of the hardest musical instruments to master.”

Anna is also very fortunate to have secured a place at Pro Corda, which takes place in the school holidays. Assessors were extremely impressed with her audition, which featured a Vivaldi Concerto first movement and Mediation from the opera Thais.

Helen added: “Anna should be really proud of these achievements and we wish her every success in the next Pro Corda this summer.”
