FOR one night only, former Ely Cathedral Chorister Josh Darley is returning to Ely on Saturday (2) night to perform with the world-famous a cappella group, All the King’s Men.

After their most successful year to date, with tours to California, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and a sell-out show at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, All the King’s Men will be performing at the Hayward Theatre at King’s Ely.

The group was established in 2009 at King’s College London and quickly conquered the UK a cappella scene. After becoming Voice Festival UK champions in 2012, All the King’s Men were then crowned the best all male collegiate a cappella group in the world at the International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) in New York.

The multi-award winning group presents a diverse selection of music and entertaining choreography, seasoned with humour and mischief, creating a regal performance fit for King’s Ely!

Josh joined King’s Ely Junior in 2001 and became an Ely Cathedral Chorister in 2002. He went on to study GCSEs at King’s Ely Senior where he joined the Barbers – the school’s very own a cappella group. He was first introduced to All the King’s Men during an open day at King’s College London in 2011.

“The group burst through the crowd and performed a 90s pop medley to a group of startled prospective students,” said Josh.

“Arriving in London later that year to read History and French, I auditioned and was soon adopted into the All the King’s Men family. What was to follow during that academic year gave me some of the greatest memories of my life.

“The year kicked off with a performance to a packed Barbican Theatre, yet this was quickly outdone. We then toured in California, became the Voice Festival UK a cappella champions and were crowned the best all male collegiate a cappella group in the world at the ICCA. In the summer we went on to record an EP and were privileged enough to be the first British collegiate a cappella group to tour in South East Asia.

“I am now looking forward to coming back to King’s Ely, where my singing career began.”

All the King’s Men will be performing at the Hayward Theatre at King’s Ely from 7.30pm on Saturday February 2nd. Tickets cost £8, £6 for concessions. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call 01353 653931 or email LisaBushell@kingsely.org
