Thank you to everyone who purchased copies of our ‘2022 King’s Ely Student Academic Journal’!

Not only do you now have an impressive collection of student essays on your bookshelf, but you have also helped to raise £225 for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

The journal, which is now in its second year, is a collection of essays, written by King’s pupils, that were either originally written for the Extended Project Qualification or for external essay competitions. The essays cover a wide range of topics, varying from the representation of gender in Bond films, to whether universal basic income should be adopted globally. Many of the essays address questions that are extremely relevant to the modern world, such as the role of women in Afghanistan and the arguments for and against abortion.

The journal was compiled and edited by Millie Robson, Amelia Shaw and Sarah White, who were all in Year 13 at the time, and with the support of Head of History at King’s Ely Senior, Colin Currie.

The journal was sold to students, staff, families and friends of King’s at £3 per copy, with all funds raised going to the Arthur Rank Hospice – a Cambridgeshire-based charity which supports local people who are living with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition, and people who need end-of-life care.

We were delighted to welcome Sarah Clayton, a member of the charity’s Community Fundraising Team, to our final Senior Assembly of the term on December 16th to receive the cheque and a complimentary copy of the journal. It was fantastic to welcome Sarah, Millie and Amelia back to school for the presentation too!
