“Yesterday was a visual feast for anyone fortunate enough to see the children and staff at King’s Ely Junior and Acremont wearing their costumes, demonstrating their love for characters from literature on World Book Day! Alongside the fun, there was of course the serious aim of drawing attention again to the central importance of reading in supporting the children’s learning. Thank you for helping with the costumes and for funding the purchases many children made at the book stalls this week. The visits from authors, the quizzes, and the special lessons all made for a wonderfully rich literary week.

“Last night was the first fabulous performance of ‘The Little Princess’ and we are excitedly anticipating the second performance this evening. Congratulations must go to Mrs Chadwick, the staff team, and the cast from the play – the many hours of rehearsals after school and during the weekend paid off to create a super production that we are very proud of.

“Next week, we have heats of Fastermind (our general knowledge competition), Cathedral Services, Year 5 Parents’ Evening and a Year 8 Parents’ Tea with the Head taking place. On Monday, Years 7 and 8 will be visiting King’s Ely Senior for an assembly being led by Mr Shaw, Head of King’s Ely Senior. We hope that they will enjoy their glimpse of what is to come for them over the coming years at King’s.

“With our best wishes for the weekend.”
