“Although short in weeks, the Lent Term has been bumper packed with activities and learning. From your wonderful support of our Book Share Afternoon, Grandparents’ Afternoon and Focus Weeks, you will be aware of the pace of learning that has occurred this term. Inspired by the creativity embedded in their topics, the children have embraced extended vocabulary, skills, and knowledge. In addition to gaining knowledge, the children have developed their capabilities to collaborate, extend their imaginations, receive praise for their resilience and enjoy the challenge along the way!

“Of course, the term has also been about fun, friendship and celebrating. We have opened our doors to welcome pupils from KEJ and KES who very much enjoy their visits. The children would also say that any review of the term should include a mention about trips and outings! Nursery children often explore and discover around Ely and during Garden Days. Trips to Banham Zoo and the Fitzwilliam Museum are strong memories for the children and the arrival of the space dome in Year 1 really excited the learning. The extensive Reading Festival Week timetable immersed the children in drama, self-expression and literature, and I hope that their enthusiasm for reading stays with them as they manoeuvre their way through an increasing technological world. As ever, your children have surprised, delighted, and amazed us with their manners, sense of humour and kindness this term. From prospective parents to Museum guides and Zoo supervisors, the visitors and adults that we meet during the course of the term, never fail to mention how impressed they are with our King’s Ely children and how delightfully the children seek to engage with others.

“Before we conclude on this term, Grandparents’ Afternoon and our FoKsE Easter Egg Hunt are still to look forward to and I hope to see you at these wonderfully supported events. Needless to say, the diary is very full for the Summer Term. With topics centred on explorers, the outdoors and the seaside, there is much to look forward to as the warmer weather allows us to learn and explore more outside. But for now, they deserve the rest and relaxation of family time as we approach the Easter holidays. I wish you all a super holiday and thank you on behalf of the staff team, for your active and generous support this term.”
