“We enjoyed a particularly sunny return to the new term on Thursday (or should that be Monday?) this week, with the many tales from ski trips, holidays, choir stayovers, and family adventures fuelling our excitement for all that is to come this term.

“Today we shared news of the Coronation Celebrations we plan to share with the children on Friday 5th May. They include a Coronation themed bake-off, a poetry competition, some presentations at the Street Parties and to end, cake sales for the children (and you all!) – BEFORE we all head over to the rescheduled OsFest and Torfrida Colour Run – both also taking place now on 5th May too!

“As well as the significant events surrounding the Coronation, we have a range of visits and trips scheduled to take place over the coming weeks, and a calendar full of events for the term. Already, some other initiatives have been planned and those will be added to the online Almanack whenever they are confirmed. One such event, which Year 7 parents will be contacted about, is a Year 7 Parents’ Familiarisation Visit to King’s Ely Senior (KES) on Thursday 11th May. Current Year 7 pupils and their parents or carers are invited to the Old Palace at 15:45 for a talk, tours of KES and refreshments that afternoon, as part of preparing for the transition to the Senior section in due course – an invitation will be issued very soon and we ask that parents and carers reply to confirm numbers please.

“More imminent are the trip to Gainsborough House and the Parents’ Evening taking place next week. We look forward to sharing a summary of the busy week to come in next week’s edition of the Junior Newsletter, which will be the last compiled by Mrs Katie Driver, my Personal Assistant, who will be moving to a new post from Friday 28th April. Thank you for all the good wishes and messages which have already been shared when the advert for her post became public. I would like to offer a public thank you at this point for her remarkable dedication and commitment to King’s Ely Junior, your children, parents, colleagues and me. We wish her every happiness in her new role.

“I hope that you all enjoy a super weekend ahead.”
