“And so, the Christmas season has officially arrived! With all our resolve, we held back until the 1st December, but now we are fully immersed in learning the story of Christmas, rehearsing for our Cathedral Service and Nursery Nativity performance, as well as decorating our classrooms. Woven within all this jollity is, of course, our learning! Story writing, role play, advent calendar maths, fossil investigation, and ‘crumble’ cookery have excited imaginations and answered curious questions this week.

“At this time of year, generosity of spirit and action somehow has even greater relevance, and this sense of giving certainly has shone brightly amongst our Acremont community with the launch of our Festive Foodbank Appeal. Our car gate hamper has been full to bursting each day and now Mrs Lever’s office is too! We cannot thank you enough for your donations so far. Our Year 1 and Year 2 School Councillors will deliver our collection to the Ely Foodbank Warehouse on Tuesday 6th December. However, if you still would like to donate after that time, our custodians will also be delivering again before the end of term. Thank you also to the gathering of Reception and Year 2 parents who attended a recent wreath-making event, and kindly donated the wonderful Acremont and Nursery wreaths, whilst also collecting a large donation for Ely Foodbank.

“We look forward to welcoming the Ely Cathedral Boy Choristers to our Monday morning assembly at the start of next week. Their beautiful voices will certainly inspire us, as we prepare for our own performance and even encourage both girls and boys who may wish to consider joining our Cathedral Choirs in the future. We then wait with much anticipation for Wednesday morning and the Nursery performance of ‘A Christmas Patchwork’. If the Christmas spirit has been slow to reach you so far, brace yourself for a large sprinkling of it as our youngest performers share this special treat with their families.

“With my best wishes for a jolly and relaxing weekend.”
