“The term is in full swing, the Reception tadpoles are growing fast, and the engine room of our learning has got veritable steam coming from its pistons! From my travels around school, I am delighted to hear about the number of little learning moments that are occurring at high frequency at this time. As we celebrated the fortnightly refresh of Gold Work in Assembly today, it is clear that progress is very evident. We look forward to sharing beautifully painted Georgia O’Keefe inspired canvases, detailed and well researched topic books, and our dazzling outdoor learning environments with parents and friends on Saturday 3rd July when we open the doors for our Summer Celebration.

“Our intensive weeks of swimming at the King’s Ely Junior pool continued this week. It has been the turn of Year 2 to use their woggles as unicorns and floats as sharks, as they develop water confidence, under water skills, and stamina to swim and even dive! I visited them in action today and it was certainly warmer in the pool than it was outside! Time flew as the children put their full trust in their instructors and boldly followed a ‘can-do, will do’ attitude! Next week, we look forward to the start of the Year 1 swimming week as Reception children dust off their buckets and spades for a wonderful trip to the beach and the Sealife Centre in Hunstanton. Fingers crossed for one of those clear blue-sky kind of North Norfolk days! Our Year 2 pupils will dip further into their transition timetable next week as they prepare for a visit to the Monastic Barn.

“For the last time today, I spoke with Year 2 parents at our termly ‘At Home’, before the children move up to Year 3. Thank you, Year 2 parents, for sharing many cups of coffee with me over your time here. I have very much enjoyed listening, sharing, and discussing the wonderful learning journey enjoyed by your children. I wish you all a happy and restful weekend.”
