“WELL! It certainly has been deep and crisp and even this week! Fortunately, frozen windscreens and frosty walks to school have quickly given way to beautiful sunrises and sunny winter days. Mud has also been a focus of this week’s outdoor play as some children seem to bring more of it back into the classrooms and home than there seems to be in the actual garden! However, I am very grateful for your forbearance at this time, because the quality of the play, den making, football playing and general outdoor enjoyment is truly childhood in action, and is a great learning experience.
“Indoors, the learning has been rich and plentiful this week, as revealed in our Celebration Assembly yesterday. Golden crown awards were handed out for wonderful watercolours, careful co-ordinated mapping and writing a first sentence in Monday morning newswriting. Unlocking the code to spelling, handwriting, remembering finger spaces and developing the stamina to concentrate for that long may sound small, but they are enormous milestones in Reception and contribute to making the learning in Pre-Prep so rewarding and exciting. We are never too far from an exciting event at Acremont, and this week was no exception as we discussed and shared manifesto ideas and voted for this term’s School Councillors. Our successful candidates have received their badges and we now begin the process of considering the ideas from their manifestos, ensuring that everyone’s efforts are valued and considered.

This term, these events will be delivered online as we seek to reduce potential Covid transmission in school, however I am sure by the Summer Term we will be able to resume our successful hybrid format.
