KING’S Ely Sixth Form leaver, Martha Lansley, is off to the University of Bath after achieving the A Level results she needed.

Martha, 18, achieved an A* in Drama and Theatre, an A* in Government and Politics, and an A in English Literature. Her chosen degree is Politics and International Relations.

Martha, who joined King’s Ely for Sixth Form in Year 12, said: “I remember feeling pretty scared when I first joined King’s as so many of the year group I was joining had been here for years and obviously any new school feels daunting. However, everyone was so welcoming, both students and staff, that I settled in and made friends really quickly.”

Martha also says that the fact she got involved with so many extra-curricular activities helped her to settle quickly. Martha really enjoys her sport and has been a key member of both the 1st Hockey and Netball Teams. She also enjoys performing arts and has starred in several school productions, including ‘Made in Dagenham’ and ‘Education, Education, Education’.

Martha said: “I’m going to miss King’s, my friends and the general environment of the school so much. There are so many opportunities here and it’s such a safe, caring place to be. You can really be yourself. The teachers genuinely love their subjects, which then rubs off on you as a student. The Drama Department in particular is just amazing and is somewhere where students from different year groups can come together, which is really important. I am excited for Bath but there is so much I am going to miss. Even during the lockdowns, our teachers went the extra mile to support us, and that is really appreciated.”

Congratulations Martha, good luck in Bath and keep in touch!
