KING’S Ely’s photography department wiped the floor at the College of West Anglia 2013 Photography Competition awards on Monday (24).

King’s Ely Sixth Form’s Alex Clubb won the overall prize, students Jessie Sharp and Matt Ley were Highly Commended and King’s Ely won the School Prize in the competition, which involved schools from all over East Anglia.

Alex collected his prize of £100 at the Private View and formal opening of the Visual Arts Exhibition on Monday at the Isle Campus in Wisbech. The school also received £100.

“This is the second photography competition that our photography students have won this year, with Ursula Meyer-Root winning the Ely Hereward Rotary Club Competition in February,” said Head of Photography, Mack Mathod.

Monday proved to be a great day for Jessie and Matt, who also won the school’s album cover design competition along with Molly Edwards. The competition was judged by Old Elean Aubery Powell, designer of iconic album covers and images for legendary bands such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, who returned to the school to talk about his career on Monday.
