FOOTBALL fever has hit King’s Ely as fans across the school prepare for tonight’s (12) World Cup kick-off.

Students have been participating in a crossword competition to win an official Brazuca ball as well as a host of other official FIFA World Cup 2014 merchandise. King’s Ely Junior’s Owen Cole and Grace Morris, who play for Cambridge United and Burwell Tigers respectively, were on hand to showcase the prizes on offer.

In addition, the flags of all 32 nations competing in the event are on display in the school’s Monastic Barn, arranged in the eight groups of the tournament.

Head Chef, Tony McInally, said: “The flags and the crossword competition have helped to generate interest in the World Cup. So far we have given out over 250 entry forms.”
