Congratulations to King’s Ely Senior students, Rory Jones, Ciara Comley, Rory Brech and Phoebe Thurlow, who are all achieving great things in a sport they love!

Ciara, Phoebe and Rory J have recently been selected for the England Hockey Cambridge Talent Academy (CTA).

The CTA, hosted by Cambridge City Hockey Club, is a new three-year programme, which is a key step in the introduction of the new ‘England Hockey Talent System’. The CTA will select and develop squads of up to 25 girls and 25 boys aged 15-18 from schools, clubs and counties in the catchment area, who they feel have the potential and commitment to make it to the highest level of Hockey.

As well as running the Talent Academy, CTA is overseeing a Talent Academy Camp, which Rory B has been selected for. The camp involves monthly pitch sessions alongside Talent Academy sessions.

Outside of school, Ciara, Rory J and Rory B all play for Cambridge City. Phoebe plays for Bury St Edmunds Hockey Club.

Chanre Bond, Head of Hockey at King’s, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved opportunity for these players! Not only will they be able to develop their skills to a higher level in their weekly sessions in Cambridge, but they will also get expert advice relating to the physical, mental, nutritional and tactical aspects of the game. We are very proud of their achievements.”
