The Spanish Festival, Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos – also known as the Epiphany or Three Kings’ Parade – was the focus of King’s Ely Senior’s Cultural Crafts Club this week.

This after school club is led by Eleanor Herring, our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, to increase learning and awareness about different cultures and commemorations around the world, through simple arts and crafts.

The club takes place every Tuesday during term time, and it is supported by our ‘King’s Unity Group’.

Mrs Herring said: “To honour Epiphany, we created little hanging crowns in a variety of shapes and styles, using a range of colourful glitters, plain felts and sheet metals which we stitched or glued together. The crowns now adorn the Cultural Crafts Club’s display tree in the Old Palace Entrance Hall.

“It is always a challenge, whatever our age, to get back into the rhythm of work and school after a much-deserved break, so it was wonderful, as ever, to see a bunch of friendly faces old and new come and craft in their own unique styles with so much enthusiasm. A great way to start the new term!”

Cultural Crafts Club will continue to explore various Winter Festivals throughout this term. Next week’s focus is Chinese New Year!
