King’s Ely Senior students are excited to be showcasing their artwork in the 2023 East Cambridgeshire Schools’ Art Exhibition – three of whom were awarded prizes!

The exhibition at Babylon ARTS in Ely is an annual celebration of children and young people’s creative talents across East Cambridgeshire. The initiative sees artists aged 4-19 from 18 local schools submitting more than 200 artworks in a variety of media.

The exhibition has been running for 14 years, and a competition and prizegiving ceremony is also held. This is supported by Tindalls Art and Graphics and Ely Hereward Rotary Club. A panel of local artists, curators, and creative producers have the difficult task of selecting three winners from each Key Stage category – Foundation through to Key Stage 5.

Congratulations to Nell Kittoe (Year 11), who won third prize in the Key Stage 4 category (Fashion and Textile Design); Richard Brown (Old Elean), who won third prize in the Key Stage 5 category (Fine Art); and Thomas Bateman (Year 13), who won second prize in the Key Stage 5 category (Photography).

Michael Corley, Chief Executive of Babylon ARTS, said: “Congratulations to all of the prize-winners and everyone who has artwork in the exhibition this year. We are proud to host the East Cambridgeshire Schools’ Art Exhibition at Babylon Gallery, and are always impressed by the level of creativity and talent shown by children and young people across the district.”

The exhibition is open until Sunday 5th March. Babylon Gallery is located on Ely’s Riverside and it is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm-4pm. Entry is free and everyone is welcome. For more information, visit: www.babylonarts.org.uk
