PUPILS in Year 7 and 8 at King’s Ely Junior skipped their usual maths lesson last week to celebrate Pi Day.

The key stage three maths class took part in a range of fun and educational activities designed to teach them about π, including π dingbats, building tetrahedrons with circles and a competition to see who could remember the most numbers after the decimal point in π.

Some students also brought in their own chocolate πs (aka cakes) to the maths class, which were decorated with the π symbol or the numbers in π.

Audrienne Bezzina, Head of KS3 Maths at King’s Ely Junior, said: “Junior Pi Day was an engaging and memorable way to learn about π, not to mention a great opportunity to enjoy eating cakes in the classroom!”
