TWO King’s Ely Sixth Form students are a step closer to fulfilling their dreams of studying at Cambridge and Oxford Universities.

Yinni Hu, 18, from Oslo, Norway, has secured a conditional offer to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Somerville College, Oxford. Hattie Pinto, 18, from Mepal, near Ely, has secured a conditional offer to read Philosophy at Jesus College, Cambridge.

The hard-working duo will be joined by James Mitchell, who was awarded an organ scholarship and a place to study Music at Girton College, Cambridge last year. He is currently on a gap year and will be joining Yinni and Hattie, depending on their grades, for entry 2017.

Director of Higher Education and Graduate Careers at King’s Ely Senior, Gill Smith, said: “I am delighted for our successful Oxbridge candidates who have done amazingly well and for our other Year 13 students who have received some excellent offers from other leading universities in the UK and internationally. These offers are testament to the hard work of the students and the dedication and passion of the teachers here at King’s Ely.”

Last year, 97 per cent of King’s Ely students secured a place at their first choice or insurance university.
