Bravo to our Year 5 King’s Ely Prep pupils for their superb energy and achievements in their ‘A Play in a Day’ event!

Miss Emily Chadwick, who is our Head of Drama at Prep, organised for the team from Peterborough-based organisation, Kindred Drama, to come into school to run a creativity-packed Shakespeare day with the children.

Miss Chadwick said: “It was with much excitement that the Year 5 groups found out which Shakespeare play they would be performing to their friends and family in the Morbey Hall at the end of the day! Macbeth, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream were the three plays performed. The morning began with parts being allocated and the scenes being blocked. After lunch, it was time to practise before a dress rehearsal in front of the other groups, after which it was then time to perform. All of the groups gave wonderful interpretations of the plays, with much laughter from the audience. Well done to everyone involved for putting on such great performances in such a short space of time!”

On the subject of Prep Drama, the Years 5/6 and Years 7/8 productions for 2024-25 have also been announced!

Years 5 and 6 will be performing ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in October, and auditions have already started. Years 7 and 8 will be staging ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’, and auditions will take place in September.

Audition packs for both plays are available from Miss Chadwick or Main Reception at Prep.
