A group of adventure-loving King’s Ely Senior students headed to Dartmoor National Park during half term.

The trip, which was organised through our unique outdoor education programme, Ely Scheme, saw four Year 10 pupils putting their hill walking, navigation and camping skills to the test in what were very challenging conditions.

James Houlston, our Director of Outdoor Education, said: “Students braved the worst of the wet British weather as they trained for four days on the rugged and barren moorland. Dartmoor did its best to swamp the team during this training period, but thankfully the sun shone for their expedition.

“For their expedition, the students embarked on a three-day journey across the wild landscape, carrying everything that they needed to look after themselves and their teammates for the duration. I would like to say a huge well done to them all, as this was a tough challenge.”

Kudos to the students who participated and thank you to Alex Keene and Mara Pintece, two of our Year 12 Pupil Instructors, who helped guide the group during the expedition. Thank you also to Mr Houlston and Mr Keene for taking time out of their half term to organise and lead the trip!
