These photos capture just some of the ‘Festival of Reading’ celebrations that have taken place at King’s Ely Junior so far this week!

A feast of literary activities and events are taking place around school throughout this week to celebrate all things reading, books and writing, and pupils from Nursery through to Sixth Form are involved.

Yesterday (February 28th), award-winning local author Julian Sedgwick visited King’s to work with our Years 7 and 8 pupils. Julian spoke about his acclaimed new book, ‘Tsunami Girl’, and led a wonderful creative writing workshop with Year 8s.

King’s Ely Junior (KEJ) pupils also enjoyed a murder mystery event in our Porta Library yesterday. Working in small teams, students had to follow clues hidden among the bookshelves to discover who the murderer was, what their motive was, and what weapon they used.

A second-hand book stall outside the Junior School Library at breaktimes and lunchtimes has been a hive of activity too! Not only is the stall being run by pupils, but all donations will go to KEJ’s charities, Cancer Research UK and GIST Cancer UK.

Roll on World Book Day tomorrow (March 2nd) – we cannot wait to see everyone’s outfits and accessories!
