FOUR fashion students from King’s Ely Senior are preparing for an opportunity of a lifetime after securing exclusive work experience placements at the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden this summer.

Textiles students Ella Jordan, Beatrice White, Helen Campbell and Olivia Davis will spend a week working in the Royal Ballet School’s costume department as well as working behind the scenes at the Royal Opera.

Director of Art Alison Rhodes, who has worked on commercial fashion projects across the world after graduating from the Royal College of Art, brings a wealth of industry experience to the school’s Textiles department.

Alison said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to work within a highly creative, professional environment and will provide a wealth of experience and skills for them to develop further on their return to King’s Ely.”

Last year, King’s Ely was presented with an award by The Good Schools Guide for the best results at A Level Art and Design (Textiles) achieved by girls at any English school, and fashion designs by King’s Ely students were exhibited at the Royal Ballet.
