THE picturesque setting of Burghley Park in Stamford is the perfect venue for King’s Ely Senior’s forthcoming Fashion and Textiles Exhibition.

Designs by some of the school’s most talented students will be on display during The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, which take place from Thursday 5th until Sunday 8th September, in the crafts pavilion.

Director of Art, Alison Rhodes, who worked on commercial fashion projects across the world before pursuing a teaching career, said: “The work on display will be AS and A2 Textiles projects, where students have explored a broad range of techniques, including digital transfer, heat sensitive materials, hand and machine embroidery and appliqué.

“This work will also include the garment design by Connie Wynn, who achieved 100% in both her AS exam and coursework.”

King’s Ely’s fashion students frequently achieve among the best GCSE and A Level results in the whole of the UK, with many students going on to study in top fashion colleges. Shoe designer and Vogue writer, Rupert Sanderson – whose shoes are worn by film stars and celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Cheryl Cole and Samantha Cameron – is a former pupil
