Safer Internet Day is being celebrated in approximately 180 countries and territories across the world today (February 7th).

At King’s, our students, staff and families take online safety seriously every day. However, we were certainly keen to use today’s international campaign as an excuse to raise further awareness.

Our Year 8 Digital Leaders at King’s Ely Junior (KEJ) have been popping in and out of Key Stage 2 classrooms today to share digital safety tips and advice with their younger friends!

This afternoon, our Digital Leaders and Mr Everest, who is Head of Key Stage 2 and Computing and Digital Innovation at KEJ, then ran pop-up online safety information stalls outside the school’s main entrance. Pupils, parents/carers, and staff members were able to ask the Digital Leaders and Mr Everest questions, and take home lots of printed information about how to stay safe when using different platforms and APPs.

Our Digital Leaders will be visiting more classrooms and running more pop-up stalls around school this week to help keep spreading the word on online safety.

From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns. For more information about the campaign, please visit: https://saferinternet.org.uk
