A DOUBLE Decker bus made an unscheduled stop at King’s Ely Acremont to jump-start the new term’s London theme.

Children from all year groups enjoyed a bus ride around Ely, signalling the start of the whole of the summer term’s work.

To mark the Golden Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics this summer, the students will be taking part in a range of activities to help them learn more about London and its treasures, the Monarchy and the Olympic Games, along with the cultures and values which they represent.

The London theme will be rolled out across the curriculum as well as play time to encourage the young people to learn about different cultures and to develop their own values and ambitions.

Head of King’s Ely Acremont, Lynda Brereton said: “The term got off to a very exciting start with the arrival of the London Routemaster bus. As well as the tour of Ely, the children thoroughly enjoyed finding out all about the history of the bus and are very excited about the adventures that lie ahead this term.”
