King’s Ely Acremont Nursery and Pre-Prep’s fluffy friends have flown the nest!

The Happy Chick Company came to collect the chicks on Friday (March 17th), much to the disappointment of the children.

As previously reported, pupils and staff arrived at Nursery and School on March 9th to hear a chorus of cheep-cheeping coming from their classrooms. We arranged for four incubators filled with hatching eggs to be delivered by The Happy Chick Company – one each for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The hatch rates were fantastic and, once the chicks had fully dried out, they were transferred to the brooder boxes and the children were able to start caring for them, learning all about their growth, and admiring their individual characters as they developed.

Faye Fenton-Stone, Head of King’s Ely Acremont, said: “The children cared for the chicks with consideration and kindness. They learnt an enormous amount about life cycles, from studying at close quarters the wonderful moment of coming into the world, along with the hard work and also fragility of this process.”

Another year, another fabulous way to really help bring our Nursery and Pre-Prep pupils’ Science learning to life!
