“Many of you will have seen online our Catering Steward, Tony McInally, reciting Robert Burns’ Address to a Haggis to mark the boarders’ Burns Night Supper on January 25th. On January 26th, the Catering Team surpassed expectations again and transformed the Monastic Barn to celebrate Chinese New Year. I remain in awe of their ability to mark two events with authentic food on consecutive evenings. We are extremely fortunate to have a Catering Team who not only provide fantastic food but value the importance of celebration.

“Separately, I was delighted to see so much else happening after school on January 26th evening. In addition to the regular clubs, Year 9 pupils could be found performing in the Board Room for the first Classics and Latin ‘Parrhesia’. At the same time in the Hayward Theatre, over 40 pupils were learning to dance the Cha-Cha-Cha, led by Inga, a Year 13 pupil. Next door in the Recital Hall, the Music Competition was continuing into its eighth evening, whilst after supper in the Old Palace, over 30 Sixth Form Psychology students attended a talk by Anna Pacak-Vedel, from Aalborg University, Denmark. Thank you to everyone who made these events happen and to the pupils who participated.

“With best wishes.”
